A 2023 ThinkPad convertible with no low-band axis
The ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 4 from 2023 asks $688 — 93% above the convertible-class median of $356, mid-tier money for the category. The configuration is current: a 13th-generation Core i3 1315U with a 64GB memory ceiling, top-25 capacity for the class. The verdict block's peer comparison finds no serious weak spot — the graphics reading of 14.08 sits 267% above the class median — though the TL;DR adds an honest footnote: the gaming axis measures 25, in the low band. And price, as always with newest platforms, is where the real objection lives.
What the profile actually says
The hybrid-core i3 handles the office load with current-generation efficiency, the 64GB ceiling doubles the class median, and the game gates confirm minimum-bar Overwatch, GTA V, and Rainbow Six Siege alongside VS Code. The absolute levels stay honest too: the gaming axis measures 25, in the low band — exactly the territory the minimum-bar greens describe, and nothing this narrative claims beyond.
The trade-off is the price
At $688 the buyer pays a recency and completeness premium: 2023 silicon with years of runway, a warranty-age platform, and the convertible format's whole toolkit. The soft spots are named plainly: an entry-level CPU tier and a low-band gaming axis — and the depreciation rate of 12.87% per year with a two-year projection of $522 is the steepest in the neighborhood. Buying newest costs; that is the trade, stated plainly.
Price trajectory
From a $1,500 anchor the machine has settled at $688, decaying at 12.87% per year. The drop to a projected $522 is the price of carrying the newest badge in the class — set against the years of useful life that badge buys.
Against the alternatives
Above it: HP's Envy 14 at $750. Below: HP's EliteBook x360 1040 G8 at $616 and Envy x360 15 at $632 — both undercuts from older-generation platforms. The cross-shop is recency versus savings, and this unit's side of the argument is the 13th-gen chip, the 64GB, and the no-low-band profile.
Bottom line
Fairly priced for a buyer who wants a current-generation convertible with no peer-level weak spot and a pro-tier memory ceiling. The honest framing: capability is mid-tier across the board with gaming in the low band, the price is premium-tier, and the trade between them is the entire purchase decision.
