HP Envy x360 15-ew0023dx review

HP Envy x360 15-ew0023dx — a 2022 i7 convertible whose story is memory

A 2022 Envy x360 15-inch convertible at $632, well above the $356 class median. Core i7-1255U with 64GB of RAM: memory is the registered strength, top quartile at double the median. Graphics registers 0; the price sits in the class's top quartile.

Premium convertible, memory-first configuration

The 1255U is efficient current-generation silicon — ten cores, quick for office loads — and the 64GB allocation removes memory from the list of things a buyer will ever worry about. As a convertible for creators-adjacent office work — documents, browser-heavy research, media consumption — the machine is well-provisioned and well-built.

The two costs

First, graphics at 0: no gaming, no acceleration — the formula's standard omission at this tier. Second, the price: +78% over the class median pays for chassis and RAM, not compute headroom. The depreciation curve at 11.95% per year (from $1,500, projected $490 in two years, −22%) prices that premium honestly.

Price trajectory

From $1,500 to $632 today, with the −22% two-year projection continuing the pattern of premium convertibles shedding value briskly.

Against its neighbors

Pricier: the GalaxyBook 2 Pro B-class listing ($676) and ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 4 ($688). Cheaper: the EliteBook x360 1040 G9 ($578) — a business-line alternative with the same formula for $54 less. Sideways: the ZBook Studio x360 G5 ($609). The performance alternative below is HP's own Envy 14-fa0013nd at $750 — stronger graphics for $118 more.

Bottom line

A memory-rich premium convertible for the office-first buyer. The buyer pays top-quartile money and accepts integrated graphics; the EliteBook x360 G9 at $578 asks the fair question of whether the Envy name is worth $54.
