Performance scores
A slim 2013 ThinkPad where the graphics placing flatters the hardware
The Lenovo ThinkPad T440s (2013) is the thinner sibling of the T440 line: an Intel Core i7 4600U with 16GB of RAM at $183, below the business-class median of about $297. Its graphics placing of 45.85 against a class median of 3.84 comes from integrated Haswell graphics and flatters the machine — the capability flags are the honest guide, and they green-light Overwatch, Grand Theft Auto V and Rainbow Six Siege at minimum settings and nothing more.
A classic thin-and-light writing machine
The T440s was built for road warriors: lighter than the standard T-series, with the same keyboard discipline and a Core i7 that was near the top of the ultrabook range in its day. Sixteen gigabytes of RAM keeps it comfortable for modern browsing and office loads, and the ok-flags confirm light, older games run. As a portable writing and browsing machine, it still holds up.
Reliability and memory ceiling are the honest costs
The verdict names reliability as the weak spot — an index of 17 against a class median of 42.5 — and the RAM ceiling of 16GB (median 40) limits how much future workload the platform can absorb. This is a machine bought for remaining runtime, not for years of dependable service; condition and battery health matter more than spec sheets at this age.
The value curve has flattened
From a $1300 base the T440s has drifted down to $183, about 6.23% per year, with a projected $161 in two years. The steep part of the curve is over; further losses are small in absolute terms.
Ultrabook-era alternatives nearby
Cheaper neighbors include the Dell Latitude E7240 ($160) and HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 ($167) — both direct ultrabook rivals of the era. The T440s sits slightly above them, carrying the i7 badge and 16GB of RAM where many contemporaries shipped with half that.
Bottom line
The T440s is a $183 thin-and-light for writing, browsing and light duty, with ok-flags that permit older games at minimum settings. Reliability (17, low) and the 16GB memory ceiling are the real constraints, and the graphics placing deserves no credit — the integrated silicon is exactly as capable as the flags say.
