Performance scores
A 2015 Elite x2 1012 G1 tablet whose graphics placing flatters it — honest about the vintage iGPU
The HP Elite x2 1012 G1 (2015) is an aging business detachable tablet built around an Intel Core m5 6Y54, landing at $243 — below the convertible-class median of about $356. The graphics score of 45.85 places it in mainstream territory, but this reflects how undemanding the typical business laptop is on graphics, not modern gaming capability — the underlying GPU is a vintage Intel HD Graphics 515 integrated part. The honest weak spot is CPU performance (14.93, basic tier).
A detachable tablet form factor at a budget price
The Elite x2 1012 G1 is a Surface-style detachable tablet with a kickstand and a (typically bundled) keyboard cover, which is the main reason to consider it — a versatile form factor for note-taking, media, and light office work. Capability data is not available for this vintage, but in practice the Core m5 6Y54 handles email, web, and documents acceptably.
The CPU is the honest ceiling
The high graphics score needs context: the HD Graphics 515 is integrated graphics from 2015, so its mainstream-tier placing reflects how undemanding the typical business laptop is on graphics, not any real dGPU-class power. The CPU score of 14.93 places it in the basic tier against modern peers, and reliability at 24 is low for the class. This is a machine for light tablet-style duties, not for compute or modern gaming.
Slow depreciation, near the floor
From a base near $1500, the laptop has settled to $243 at roughly 7.6% per year, with a projected value around $208 in two years. The curve has flattened, typical for hardware this far into its life.
Cheaper HP detachable alternatives
Cheaper alternatives include the HP Pro x2 612 G2 ($207) and HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2 ($208), which offer similar vintage business-class detachable/convertible hardware for somewhat less.
Bottom line
The Elite x2 1012 G1 is worth the asking price only for a buyer who specifically wants a cheap, versatile detachable tablet form factor for light duties — note-taking, media, documents — and who understands the vintage CPU and iGPU limits. For anything more demanding, slightly pricier peers with newer platforms are the better spend.
