Lenovo IdeaPad 5 14IIL05 review

A 2019 IdeaPad 5 whose case is 64GB of RAM at a fair price

The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 14IIL05 (2019) pairs an Intel Core i5 1035G1 with 64GB of RAM at $297 — below the ultrabook-class median of about $373, and the verdict calls it worth the asking price. There is no discrete graphics on file (score zero against a class median of 3.84), so the purchase argument is memory capacity in a light 14-inch chassis.

Double the class memory in a 14-inch frame

Sixty-four gigabytes against a class median of 32 puts this listing in the top quartile for memory — an unusual configuration for a consumer IdeaPad. Combined with the competent 1035G1 quad-core, the machine breezes through office work, heavy browser sessions and student workloads, with headroom that will outlast the processor generation. The 14-inch form factor also keeps it carry-friendly.

Graphics off the menu, reliability below par

The verdict names graphics the leading weakness — integrated-only, no capability flags surviving — and reliability reads low at 22 against a class median of 51. Neither number disqualifies the machine for its intended gentle duty, but both belong in the decision: this is a memory-first purchase for productivity, with no gaming or GPU ambitions and a service outlook worth a battery check.

An ordinary recent-ultrabook curve

From a $1400 base the IdeaPad 5 has come down to $297, about 8.45% per year, with a projected $249 in two years. The entry price is below median, which softens the remaining decline.

Ultrabook-shelf neighbors

Pricier options include the IdeaPad S340 ($321) and Dell Inspiron 3593 ($326); cheaper ones include the Lenovo V15-IIL ($264) and HP 14-cm0970nd ($276). Among these, the 64GB configuration is the rare feature — most rivals ship with half the memory.

Bottom line

The IdeaPad 5 14IIL05 at $297 is a fair deal for buyers whose priority is RAM: double the class memory, a competent quad-core, a light chassis. Graphics claims are absent and reliability (22) merits a pre-purchase check — but as a productivity ultrabook for memory-hungry light work, the price is right.
