Where the Latitude 5521 stands
The Dell Latitude 5521 is a 2021 business laptop positioned at the upper edge of the budget tier — roughly $438, above the category median of $297. As the premium successor to the 5520, it pairs a mainstream-tier GPU surplus with a professional memory ceiling. The GPU score of 44.7 is nearly twelve times the category median of 3.8; the 64 GB memory ceiling is 60% above the median of 40 GB.
Graphics: mainstream-tier performance
The 5521's GPU score of 44.7 places it in mainstream graphics territory — the tier usually associated with entry-level dedicated graphics. In practical terms, the machine handles casual gaming at moderate-to-high settings, comfortable video editing, and GPU-accelerated creative work without difficulty. For a business laptop at this price tier, the graphics capability is a real differentiator.
Memory: the supporting strength
The 64 GB memory ceiling is 60% above the category median, placing the 5521 firmly in professional territory. For memory-intensive tasks like running multiple virtual machines, large datasets in Excel, or local development environments, this headroom matters. Combined with the mainstream GPU, the result is a business laptop with workstation-class multitasking capability.
Price trajectory
From its launch price to $438 today, the 5521 has depreciated but retains significant value as a 2021 machine. The projected price two years out represents a moderate further decline. The depreciation curve is past its steepest phase.
How it compares
In the $420-$460 refurbished business range, the 5521 sits among 2021-2022 alternatives. The Dell Vostro 15 5510 at $403 and the Dell Latitude 5530 at $475 are direct competitors. The 5521's distinguishing factor is its combination of mainstream GPU and professional memory ceiling — a pairing that few alternatives in this band match.
Bottom line
The Latitude 5521 is a 2021 business laptop that combines a mainstream-tier GPU with a professional memory ceiling. At $438, it sits above the category median but offers workstation-class capability on both graphics and memory axes. For buyers who need a business laptop capable of casual gaming and memory-intensive multitasking, it earns its asking price.
