HP 255 G4 review

HP 255 G4 — an E2-7110 at $122: floor-tier with no curve on record

An HP 255 G4 at $122, far below the $248 class median. The AMD E2-7110 APU places this in the entry quad-core tier of its era. The metrics: graphics 0, performance index 0, and an overall LB score of 3 against a 53 median — near the bottom of the catalog. No top strength registers.

Entry silicon, measured at the floor

The E2-7110 was AMD's cheapest quad-core — four very slow cores for the least expensive shelf. The performance index of 0 states the measurement plainly: the platform falls below every modern baseline. The LB score of 3 (−94% versus class) places this among the bottom handful of machines in the entire catalog, a position the silicon earned honestly.

Price as sunk cost

No release year or original MSRP is on record for this listing, so no depreciation curve can be computed — treat the $122 as terminal value, fully sunk at purchase. There is no resale expectation and no forward-value question; the only calculation is whether the narrowest duty justifies the money.

The band, one final time

Pricier: the HP 17-p023ng ($137) and Compaq Presario CQ60 ($135). Cheaper: the HP G62 ($113) and Compaq CQ58 ($115). Sideways: the Dell Inspiron 15 3542 ($123) and Lenovo IdeaPad Z575 ($122) — the latter at identical money. The band is uniform early-2010s hardware; nothing in it differentiates on capability.

Where it sits against peers

Perfectly flat against the IdeaPad Z575 at $122 and adjacent to the rest of the floor band — the competitive position has no axis to evaluate beyond price.

Bottom line

The catalog floor: score 3, no curve, no strength, no differentiation. A purchase of last resort for the narrowest single-duty use — any practical buyer should leave this band entirely.
