HP Laptop 15t-dw400 review

HP Laptop 15t-dw400 — a 2022 i5-1235U ultrabook with the 64GB office formula

A 2022 15-inch ultrabook at $373 — exactly the class median. Core i5-1235U with 64GB of RAM: memory is the registered strength, top quartile at double the median. Graphics registers 0; reliability lands at 63, a solid +24% over the class.

The current-gen office workhorse formula

The i5-1235U brings ten efficient Alder Lake cores, and the 64GB allocation means no practical memory ceiling for office work — heavy browsers, large documents, video calls, and VMs-lite coexist comfortably. Above-median reliability rounds out a profile built for undemanding longevity rather than excitement.

The single deliberate gap

Graphics at 0 versus a 3.84 class median: integrated-only, no gaming, no acceleration. The Iris Xe graphics inside the 1235U are competent at video playback and desktop work — the full practical duty of an office GPU — but nothing beyond. As with its siblings in this formula, the omission is a design economy — the money went to CPU and memory. The buyer's workload should match that allocation.

Price trajectory

From a $1,400 base, decay has run exactly 10% per year to the median-anchored $373, with a projected $302 (−19%) ahead. Median pricing for above-median memory and reliability is a fair trade.

Against its neighbors

Pricier: the HP 15-fd0445nr ($398) and Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15IAU7 ($408). Cheaper: HP's own 15-fc0102nr ($333) — the AMD sibling of this exact formula — and the newer 255 G10 ($349). This machine sits in the middle of HP's own trio; the choice among them is CPU preference and a $40 spread.

Bottom line

A balanced, current, memory-rich office machine at exactly the class-median price. No surprises in either direction — the AMD sibling at $333 is the value pick of the trio, this one the Intel-flavored middle.
