HP EliteBook 8 G2i 13 (2026) Review: The 13-Inch with the Big iGPU
The EliteBook 8 G2i 13 is the compact member of HP's 2026 business flagship refresh: an Intel Core Ultra 5 322 with 2-core Xe3 graphics and 64 GB of memory at $1,300. A 13-inch business machine posting a high-band gaming index is genuinely unusual — the value row is where the refresh asks its price.
Where it holds up
The graphics score of 45.85 stands 1094 percent above the business-class median of 3.84, in the mainstream band, and the axes spend it: gaming at 75 in the high band, photo design at 76 also high, with modeling and engineering CAD at 45 both mid. The 64 GB of memory holds 60 percent above the class median in the pro band, portability lands at 79.9 in the high band, office work reads 79.97 high, and overall performance sits at 59.23. Overwatch, Grand Theft Auto V and Rainbow Six Siege all clear their recommended bars, with Photoshop and Visual Studio Code passing.
Where it falls short
No weakness is flagged for this configuration, but the sheet has one clear soft entry: value at 24.45, in the low band — the $1,300 refresh price against a mid-tier processor and an office reading that trails its 14 and 16-inch siblings. Reliability at 63 is the mid band, unusually modest for the EliteBook badge in this batch.
Price and depreciation
At $1,300 this is the top of the mainstream business pricing, $156 above the 2025 tier it succeeds. No depreciation curve is modeled yet for the 2026 release, so no resale anchor exists.
Alternatives to consider
The EliteBook 8 G2i 14 (2026) at the same $1,300 posts office work at 91.91 against 79.97 and value at 36 against 24.45 — the stronger sheet in a slightly larger frame. The EliteBook 6 G1i 16 (2025) at $1,144 offers gaming at 59 with engineering CAD at 72 and the batch's joint-best value for $156 less. Buyers wanting this exact size class should also weigh the EliteBook 8 G1i 14 (2025) at $1,144: enthusiast 91.36 processor, though with the unscored graphics column.
Bottom line
Fairly priced for the class. The EliteBook 8 G2i 13 is a 13-inch business machine with genuine high-band gaming and photo capability — bought with value at 24.45 as the honest cost of the compact 2026 frame.
