Dell Vostro 15 3500 (2020): the cheap ticket to photo work
The Vostro 15 3500 at $604 pairs a Pentium Gold 7505 with an MX330 and 32GB of memory — and the sheet hides one genuine surprise: photo design at 79, high-tier, far above anything else in its price neighborhood. The rest is honest budget reading: a stated memory weakness, a low gaming floor, and the batch's gentlest depreciation curve.
Where it holds up
Photo design at 79 is the anomaly — high-tier creative output from a $604 machine, carried by the MX330 and 32GB of memory in a combination the class median does not expect at this price. The receipts support the GPU's modest claims: Overwatch clears its recommended bar, Grand Theft Auto V clears minimum, and Far Cry 5 posts a measured 23 frames per second at minimum settings — a floor-pass, honest about its margins. The CPU posts 70, top-quarter of the business class, and value at 64.20 mid-tier prices the package fairly.
Where it falls short
The stated weakness is the 32GB memory ceiling, 20 percent below the business-class median — pro-tier in absolute terms, below par for the shelf. Gaming at 17 is the batch's lowest gaming reading: minimum-bar receipts are the ceiling, not the middle. The Pentium Gold's single-threaded responsiveness is era-budget — class-relative scores cannot upgrade what the silicon delivers. Photo work yes, patience required; everything faster, no.
Price and depreciation
$604 with no anchor recorded; the class curve runs 8.92 percent per year — the gentlest in this batch. At this price and depth of life, the curve is nearly decorative: the machine costs less than the repair bill on most alternatives.
Alternatives to consider
The Vostro 14 3400 at $686 pairs the same processor with 64GB of memory and no working discrete card; the Vostro 15 3520 at $780 upgrades the GPU to an MX550 with photo at 88. This listing is the entry ticket — the others are the paid steps up.
Bottom line
Fairly priced for the class. The cheapest route to high-tier photo work in this batch — with the lowest gaming reading, a Pentium's patience and a 23-frames floor-pass as the honest costs. Budget creative desks start here.
