Lenovo ThinkPad E16 Gen 2: big-panel office excellence at $1,007
The E16 Gen 2 shares its platform with the E14 Gen 6 — Core Ultra 5 125H, 64GB of RAM — and its sheet follows suit: office 96.05 in the top band, reliability of 85 doubling the business-class median of 42.5, memory 60 percent above the median of 40. The $1,007 question is the same as it is for all 16-inch office machines: what are you trading for the panel? Here the answer is portability (43.3, mid-band) and photo design, which reads 35 where the 14-inch sibling collapses to 9.
Where it holds up
Office output of 96.05 is the joint-best office figure in this batch's business class, and 64GB of RAM makes it repeatable under any realistic load. Reliability of 85 keeps top-quarter longevity odds. The graphics-dependent axes benefit from the bigger chassis: photo design at 35 reaches mid-band, a visible improvement on the 14-inch version of the same platform, and the performance index of 49.94 lands mid-pack. Value at 47.55 reads fair.
Where it falls short
The graphics line reads zero — an unmatched scoring entry for the integrated configuration, a coverage gap rather than a measured zero, worth a hands-on check. The resolved axes frame the ceiling: gaming at 19, modeling at 27 and CAD at 33 all sit low-band, and photo design's mid-band 35 is still nowhere near visual-work territory. Portability of 43.3 is the honest cost of the 16-inch format: this is a desk-first machine that tolerates the bag rather than enjoys it.
Price and depreciation
$1,007 matches the batch's business mid-tier. No listing history exists for this unit, so the class rate of about 11.27 percent a year stands as the anchor — a gentle drain for a machine whose value is office comfort that ages slowly.
Alternatives to consider
The E14 Gen 6 (model 1807) runs the identical platform at the same price with a high-band 70.7 portability figure — the carry-first choice. The ThinkPad L16 Gen 1 (model 1823) posts the same office, reliability and memory numbers at $1,007 with a lower photo reading of 21; the E16 Gen 2's 35 is the better visual pick of the two big panels.
Bottom line
Fairly priced for the class. For buyers who want top-band office output on a large screen with memory to spare, the E16 Gen 2 delivers exactly that — and the low-band visual axes mark the edge of its envelope as clearly as any disclaimer could.
