Performance scores
Lenovo Legion Pro 7 Gen 8 (AMD, 2023) — the 4080 flagship that trades at slim money
The Legion Pro 7 Gen 8 at $922 pairs a Ryzen 9 7945HX with a GeForce RTX 4080 Mobile (12 GB) — the largest graphics buffer in this batch — and 32 GB of RAM. The CPU is the flagged strength: 97.31, up 50% on the gaming-class median, enthusiast band. The flagged weakness is memory: 32 GB against the 64 GB pro-tier median.
Where it holds up
3D modeling and engineering CAD both top the sheet at 95 — top band — with photo design at 91 (top) and office at 91.78 (top) behind. Gaming reads 79 (high) and overall performance 80.7 (high); the measured fits clear recommended bars across Overwatch, GTA V and Rainbow Six Siege, with Premiere and Photoshop minimums passing. Value at 85.8 (top) is the flagship arithmetic: a 12 GB 4080 and a 97.31 CPU at $922.
Where it falls short
Memory at 32 GB is the flagged ceiling in a 64 GB-median class — the one spec the price could not fit. Portability reads 16.7 (low), the lowest in this batch: the full flagship chassis is built for the desk, not the bag. The 16.26% cohort rate keeps the depreciation slope honest.
Price and depreciation
No depreciation anchor is recorded (base $0); no curve or projection applies. The 2023 cohort rate is 16.26% per year — a steep modern gaming slope.
Alternatives to consider
The Legion Pro 5 Gen 8 at the same $922 posts modeling and CAD at 99 with value 88.1 on the smaller card. The Legion 7i Gen 7 at $737 offers the 3070 Ti with a 99.9 Wh battery for $185 less. The Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 16 at $922 is the carry-friendly route with photo 99.
Bottom line
Fairly priced for the class. The buffer-flagship: a 12 GB RTX 4080 with modeling 95 and value 85.8 — the 32 GB ceiling and portability 16.7, the batch's lowest, the honest costs of flagship silicon at slim money.
