Performance scores
Lenovo Legion 5i 15″ Gen 7 (2022) — the eight-core 12450H with a photo-topped card
The Legion 5i Gen 7 at $737 pairs an Intel Core i5 12450H — an eight-core, twelve-thread part — with a GeForce RTX 3050 Mobile (4 GB) and 32 GB of RAM. No strength is flagged, while the flagged weakness is memory: 32 GB against the 64 GB pro-tier class median. The 60 Wh battery sits below the class median, as it did on the 2021 model.
Where it holds up
Photo design at 92 — top band — is the strongest absolute axis on the sheet, with office at 87.4 (top) right behind. Gaming reads 70 (high) and overall performance 66.53 (high); the Alder Lake eight-core keeps compute honest. The measured titles clear recommended bars across Overwatch, GTA V and Rainbow Six Siege, with the Photoshop minimum passing.
Where it falls short
Memory at 32 GB is the flagged ceiling in a 64 GB-median class, and the 60 Wh cell repeats the endurance shortfall. Portability reads 28 (low), and value at 56.2 (mid) — fair, though the 2021 sibling undercuts it with a higher value figure at a lower price.
Price and depreciation
No depreciation anchor is recorded (base $0); no curve or projection applies. The 2022 cohort rate is 14.76% per year — the steep flagship stretch is past, the slope continues.
Alternatives to consider
The Legion 5i 15″ (2021) at $590 delivers photo 92 and value 81.95 for $147 less on the prior platform. The Legion 7i Gen 7 at $737 adds the 3070 Ti with a 99.9 Wh battery. The Legion Slim 5i Gen 8 at $922 is the thinner route with photo at 99 and a 12450H of its own.
Bottom line
Fairly priced for the class. The eight-core mid-Legion: photo 92 with office 87.4 and rec-tier titles — the 32 GB ceiling, 60 Wh cell and portability 28 the standing costs at $737.
