Performance scores
Gigabyte A16 (2025) — the eight-core carry-friendly gaming value
The Gigabyte A16 at $1,440 pairs an eight-core Intel Core i5 13420H with a GeForce RTX 4050 (6 GB) and 64 GB of RAM. The flagged strength is mobility at 44 — 51.7% above the gaming-class median of 29 — with reliability at 76 (+43.4%) behind it. No weakness is flagged.
Where it holds up
The gaming reading posts 87 (top) with photo design at 80 (high) and office at 91.91 (top); the RTX 4050 clears the recommended bar for Overwatch, Grand Theft Auto V and Rainbow Six Siege, and the Photoshop and Visual Studio Code minimums are met. Overall performance reads 70.87 (high) on the 64 GB fitment, and the modeling/CAD pair lands at 57 (mid) with value at 35.5 (mid).
Where it falls short
No weak spot is flagged, yet portability nonetheless reads 30.7 — the low band, the tax of a 16-inch gaming chassis even in a carry-friendly build. The RTX 4050 is the previous GPU generation at a current-generation price, and value sits mid rather than high.
Price and depreciation
No depreciation anchor is recorded (base $0); no curve or projection applies. The 2025 cohort rate is 20% per year — the steep band that current-generation machines accept.
Alternatives to consider
The Gigabyte A18 at the same $1,440 steps up to the RTX 5060 in an 18-inch body at portability 0; the Gigabyte Aero X16 at $1,440 pairs the RTX 5060 with mobility 62; and the Lenovo LOQ 16APH8 at $922 is the prior-generation value route with value at 77.5 (high).
Bottom line
Fairly priced for the class. A top-band gaming sheet (87) with 64 GB and genuine carry ease for the class — with portability 30.7 the honest floor of the format. The modeling/CAD pair at 57 (mid) frames the compute ceiling of the 13420H build.
