Dell Inspiron 15-7568 review

A cheap convertible showing its age

The Dell Inspiron 15-7568 is a 2015-era 2-in-1 convertible built around Intel's dual-core Core i5-6200U and 32 GB of RAM. At roughly $240 today, it sits well below the $356 median for convertibles — clearly in ultra-budget territory. The hardware reflects its age: CPU performance is in the "basic" band, the reliability index is low, and there is no discrete GPU. This is a low-cost entry into the convertible form factor rather than a capable all-rounder.

What still works: form factor at a low price

The Inspiron 15-7568's appeal is purely the 2-in-1 form factor at a bargain price. For buyers who specifically need a fold-back touchscreen — reading, media, light note-taking — the 32 GB of RAM is enough to keep the machine responsive for those tasks, and the convertible hinge is the one feature that justifies choosing it over a similarly-priced clamshell.

What doesn't: performance and long-term prospects

The dual-core i5-6200U is a 2015 part and shows it: the CPU score is in the basic band, well below the category median. The reliability index is low, which reflects both the age and the budget-tier original build. Graphics are at the floor of the category — no discrete GPU, no gaming, no GPU-accelerated creative work. Buyers should expect a machine that does office and media tasks adequately and nothing more.

Price trajectory

From an original $1,500 MSRP, the Inspiron 15-7568 has depreciated to roughly $240 today, an annual rate near 7.6%. Projected forward, another two years bring it to about $205, a 14.6% drop. The curve has flattened — most of the value loss is already behind it.

How it compares

For slightly more money, the Dell Inspiron 7579 x360 ($269) and HP Elite x2 G4 ($260) offer newer convertible hardware. Below it, the HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2 ($208) is the standout cheaper alternative — a premium-tier convertible of similar vintage for less money, which makes the Inspiron's value proposition harder to justify unless the specific hinge or screen is preferred.

Bottom line

The Inspiron 15-7568 is a budget-friendly pick for buyers who specifically want a cheap 2-in-1 for media, browsing and light office work. The 32 GB of RAM and the convertible hinge are the only real selling points — performance is basic, reliability is limited, and there's no GPU. The cheaper EliteBook x360 1030 G2 alternative is worth a close look before buying.
