Tecno Pova 4

Tecno Pova 4 review: specs, battery & used prices

Hands-on-style overview of the Tecno Pova 4 with MediaTek Helio G99: screen, cameras, battery, performance and what it costs used.

Summary

The Tecno Pova 4 takes its predecessor's battery-first formula and rebalances it: a still-huge 6,000 mAh cell, a brighter spot in the lineup for the 6.82-inch 90 Hz display, and the newer Helio G99 chip — the most capable silicon Tecno put in a Pova to that point. Our battery score of 60/100 leads the card; gaming remains 6/100. At $180 new for 8/128, the value pitch is straightforward.

Display and design

The 6.82-inch LCD at 90 Hz is the same budget-panel bargain as before — big and smooth-ish at 450 nits, with a 29/100 screen score that honestly records LCD contrast. At 213 g with no IP rating, it is lighter than the 7,000 mAh Pova 3 and better balanced for it; the compactness score of 73/100 agrees.

Performance

The Helio G99 is a genuine step up inside the budget class: everyday 42/100 — noticeably more fluent than the G88 generation — while gaming at 6/100 keeps expectations calibrated. The chip's efficiency is what lets a 6,000 mAh cell feel even larger than it is.

Camera

A single 50 MP main sensor, no ultrawide, no OIS: a 10/100 camera score. Daylight snapshots exist; low light and zoom do not, in any meaningful sense.

Battery and charging

The 6,000 mAh cell scores 60/100 — comfortably past two days of light use — but the 18 W charging (0/100) is the honest cost corner: refilling a cell this size takes the better part of two hours. Overnight charging is not a habit here; it is a requirement.

Verdict

As with most of Tecno's range, we track no meaningful used market — the reference price is $180 new for the 8/128 configuration, which doubles the base storage of the Pova 3 for $20 more. That is the sharper buy of the two for most people. If maximum endurance outranks everything, the older Pova 3 still wins on raw capacity; the Pova 4 wins on balance.
