The Galaxy S20 was the compact 2020 flagship: a 6.2-inch 120 Hz OLED, IP68 sealing and 163 g — built around the Exynos 990, the most controversial chip Samsung ever shipped. Our everyday score of 53/100 and gaming score of 16/100 reflect that handicap honestly; the display and the weight remain genuinely lovely, and the used price has resolved the argument.

Display and design

The 6.2-inch OLED at 120 Hz with an 800-nit rating was a generation-defining panel — one of the first high-refresh flagships in this size class. Screen score: 61/100, strong for the year. At 163 g with IP68, it is the small-flagship template the S21 reused; one-handed use is natural.

Performance

The Exynos 990 is the asterisk on every S20 review: peak speeds were flagship-grade, sustained performance and efficiency were not, and our everyday 53/100 and gaming 16/100 bake that in. Thermals and battery life suffer under load — the honest engineering summary of the generation. The software window closed years ago.

Camera

A 12 MP main with OIS, a 64 MP hybrid telephoto and a 12 MP ultrawide, with 8K24 video: a 42/100 score. The hardware was excellent for 2020 and the processing has aged respectably; the zoom is the standout at this price point.

Battery and charging

The 4,000 mAh cell scores 20/100 — the Exynos 990's inefficiency makes that number feel generous under load. 25 W charging is the era's standard. Light users get a day; heavy users see the chip's worst side by afternoon.

Verdict

Used supply is thin but real: 8/128 units around $115 (two listings) — a 120 Hz IP68 flagship for budget-phone money, with the chip's reputation doing the discounting. For most buyers the S21 at ~$140 with the corrected Exynos 2100 is the better spend; the S20 Plus scales up the same generation's ideas.
