Samsung Galaxy A23 5G review: specs, battery & used prices
Hands-on-style overview of the Samsung Galaxy A23 5G with Qualcomm Snapdragon 695: screen, cameras, battery, performance and what it costs used.
Summary
The Samsung Galaxy A23 5G is the connected variant of the A23: the same 6.6-inch body and 5,000 mAh battery, with a Snapdragon 695, 5G and a 120 Hz LCD at 450 nits, at $300 new for 4/64 GB. Everyday 37/100, camera 18/100, screen 39/100 — a step up in speed and connectivity over the 4G model, two versions past its update window. A single used 6/64 listing sat near $60.
Display and design
The 120 Hz LCD is the visible upgrade — scrolling motion the 90 Hz 4G model lacks — with brightness the compromise at 450 nits (screen 39/100). The 197 g plastic body is shared with the A23 4G; no ingress rating is published.
Performance
The Snapdragon 695 brings 5G and honest midrange speed: everyday 37/100, gaming 7/100 — smoother than the 680, still efficiency-first. The update window closed two versions ago.
Camera
Same rig as the 4G model: 50 MP stabilized main, 5 MP ultrawide, 2 MP auxiliary; video modes unpublished. Camera 18/100 — one good lens, nominal support.
Battery and charging
5,000 mAh with 25 W charging: battery 40/100, two days of light use — the 695's efficiency earns its keep (charging 7/100).
Verdict
The A23 5G made sense as the future-proofing dollar of 2022; today it is a cheap 120 Hz 5G phone with a closed software window. At the price of a used one, few complaints; for a live runway, the Galaxy A25 is the current expression of the same idea.
