Motorola Razr Plus

Motorola Razr Plus review: specs, battery & used prices

Hands-on-style overview of the Motorola Razr Plus with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1: screen, cameras, battery, performance and what it costs used.

Summary

The Motorola Razr Plus (2023) is the flip foldable that got the cover screen right: a 6.9-inch 165 Hz inner OLED plus a full-height external panel usable without ever opening the phone, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, 3,800 mAh, at $1,199 new for 8/256 GB. Everyday 87/100, screen 65/100, battery 16/100. Used 8/256 units cluster near $220 — the cover-display experience at a fifth of launch price.

Display and design

The signature is the external display: effectively a second phone on the outside for notifications, replies, navigation and full-app use, IP52 rated. The 6.9-inch 165 Hz inner OLED is the fastest-refresh panel in a foldable of its year (screen 65/100, brightness modest at 500 nits). Closed, it is a compact 189 g square — compactness 86/100.

Performance

The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 is a flagship chip one heartbeat off the lead: everyday 87/100, gaming 32/100. No update runway is published for this model; the near-stock build keeps it feeling current regardless.

Camera

Two 12 MP sensors — stabilized main plus ultrawide — with 4K60, camera 23/100. The cover screen turns the main camera into the best selfie rig a flip allows; the sensors themselves are the budget line of the foldable tax.

Battery and charging

3,800 mAh with 30 W charging: battery 16/100 — the flip-foldable compromise, a day of moderate use with the outer screen doing much of the work. Charging 12/100 is deliberate.

Verdict

At around $220 used, the Razr Plus is the cheapest path to the big-cover-screen flip experience — more usable folded than the Galaxy Z Flip 5, at comparable used money. Battery remains the honest cost of the form; as a style-and-utility second phone it is a bargain.
