Honor Magic V2 review: specs, battery & used prices
Hands-on-style overview of the Honor Magic V2 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2: screen, cameras, battery, performance and what it costs used.
Summary
The Honor Magic V2 is the foldable that attacked thickness: a 7.92-inch inner OLED, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a 5,000 mAh battery and a full triple camera in a body that folds slimmer and carries lighter (237 g) than most phones its capability. Everyday 90/100, camera 52/100, battery 40/100 — flagship numbers in the slimmest book-style frame of its year. New 16/256 units list at $1,599; imported used 16/512 units cluster in the high $700s.
Display and design
Both panels run at 120 Hz — the 7.92-inch inner screen and the outer cover that works as a normal phone (screen 58/100 reflects brightness tuning, not flow). The engineering story is the folded silhouette: closer to a candy-bar phone than a sandwich, at 237 g with a 5,000 mAh cell inside. There is no official ingress rating, a common foldable-generation compromise.
Performance
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 was the best Android silicon of 2023 and behaves like it: gaming 40/100 with the inner screen turning sessions panoramic, everyday 90/100. No global OS-update commitment is published for this regional model. Note that the Magic V2 is not officially distributed in the US — stateside units are imports.
Camera
Three stabilized lenses — 50 MP main, 20 MP ultrawide, 50 MP telephoto — with 4K60 video, a system most foldables of the year did not match (camera 52/100). Honor's processing skews saturated; the hardware itself keeps pace with slab flagships.
Battery and charging
5,000 mAh across a folding chassis with 66 W wired charging is excellent for the category: battery 40/100, charging 47/100, a full day of mixed use and sub-hour top-ups. The slim body makes the endurance doubly impressive.
Verdict
The Magic V2 remains the answer to "why are foldables so thick" — near-flagship everything in the slimmest book-style body tracked here. US buyers accept import logistics and the absence of official support; the Pixel Fold is the domestic-software alternative with a lower used floor.
