Dell Inspiron 17R review

A 17R With the Era's High Gaming Axis and the Batch's Floor Reliability

The Dell Inspiron 17R records an i3 2350M with 8 GB of memory. No listing price exists. Its sheet holds the era pattern — graphics 45.85 lifting gaming to 71 high-band — alongside a reliability reading of 1, the joint-lowest in this batch.

Where it holds up

Graphics is the flagged strength at 45.85, 68% above the class median, and the gaming axis follows to 71 — the standard scale placement for Sandy Bridge-era hardware, best read as historical context. Performance overall reads 22.14 and photo design 29; the 17-inch body at least carries era-typical screen real estate. The i3 badge and the 71 gaming axis make an instructive pair: the axis follows the era's graphics placement, not the CPU tier, which is why it matches the i5 machines around it.

Where it falls short

Reliability is the flagged weakness at 1 against a class median of 54 — the joint floor of this batch, shared with the Chromebook 11. CPU performance posts 7.1 against a median of 58.99, mobility reads 4 against 50, portability 5.8, office 10.38, modeling 23, engineering CAD 18, and value bottoms out at 1 — the second-lowest value reading in this batch. Every supporting axis agrees with the reliability verdict.

Price and depreciation

No listing price is recorded and no depreciation curve is modeled for this entry.

Alternatives to consider

The Inspiron 17 5748/5749 in this batch are the same chassis idea several CPU generations forward with verified minimum-bar passes. The Inspiron 3558 (2015) at $151 is the budget record with a mid-band value score of 53.95.

Bottom line

Fairly priced for the class. A high gaming axis from another decade and a reliability score of 1 — the sheet's advice is unambiguous.
