Dell Inspiron 13 5378 2-in-1 review

A $481 Convertible From 2019 With One Very High Axis

The Dell Inspiron 13 5378 2-in-1 (2019) runs an i3 7130U with 16 GB of memory, listed at $481. Its sheet's most striking number is the gaming index at 71 — high band — driven by a graphics reading of 45.85 that towers over the tiny convertible-class median of 3.84.

Where it holds up

Graphics at 45.85 is 1094% above the class median — a number that needs its context: the convertible median is very small, so the multiple flatters the hardware. Still, the measured entries cooperate: Overwatch, Grand Theft Auto V, and Rainbow Six Siege all clear their minimum bars. Office reads 45.85 mid-band, portability 68.8 high-band, and value 37.5 mid-band — a fair reading at $481 for a 2019 convertible.

Where it falls short

Reliability is the flagged weakness at 24 against a median of 49. Performance reads 34.64 in the low band, memory at 16 GB sits half the class median of 32, and the creation axes stay low: modeling 23, engineering CAD 18, photo design 29. The high gaming axis, as with the other 45.85-reading machines in this batch, reflects where the scoring scale places 2017-era integrated graphics rather than modern playability.

Price and depreciation

The listing price is $481. No depreciation baseline is recorded, so no dollar curve is projected; the modeled rate for its cohort is 9.7% per year, moderate for the vintage.

Alternatives to consider

The Inspiron 13 5379 in the same chassis family carries an i7 8550U with a higher performance reading. The EliteBook x360 830 G8 (2020) at $566 is the business-class step up with a high-band CPU score of 70.

Bottom line

Fairly priced for the class. A working convertible with verified minimum-bar passes — read the gaming axis with 2019 expectations and the rest of the sheet as written.
