Performance scores
G7 Comfort Without the Graphics Receipt
The Dell G7 15 7590 (2020) is the 15-inch member of Dell's premium G-line, listed at $339 with 32 GB of memory. Its record credits a 60 Wh battery — top quartile for the class — but carries no GPU entry, so the graphics question that defines a G7 is unanswered on paper.
Where it holds up
Battery capacity is the flagged strength: 60 Wh against a class median of 48, 25% above. Office work reads 70.4 in the high band — the machine's best task-axis reading — and memory at 32 GB matches the class median. The 2.84 kg-class chassis at least delivers the battery its weight implies. Between the two G7 records in this batch, the office reading and the 60 Wh battery are the constants; graphics data is the missing variable in both.
Where it falls short
Graphics is a coverage gap rather than a measured zero: the best-graphics score reads 0 against a class median of 27.24, and gaming (19), modeling (12), engineering CAD (19), and photo design (13) all sit low band as a consequence. Performance overall reads 19.63 in the low band, portability 20, and the composite score of 16 runs 70% below the class median of 53. Mobility posts 13 against a median of 50.
Price and depreciation
The listing price is $339. No depreciation baseline is recorded, so no dollar curve is projected; the modeled rate for its cohort is 10.39% per year.
Alternatives to consider
The G7 17 7790 at the same $339 scales the chassis to 17 inches with the same battery and office readings but lower portability. The G5 15 5587 (2018) at $245 remains the data-backed gaming pick of this batch.
Bottom line
Fairly priced for the class. A comfortable battery-and-office machine wearing a gaming badge the record cannot confirm.
